Printer Pricing and Details:
Pricing: 2x Material Cost + $5/hr Machine Time
Standard Material: Polymaker Polylite Grey ABS $16/kg
The goal with the printer is to be able to make large scale props at a reasonable level of detail in a short amount of time. A 0.6mm nozzle is used to achieve a reasonable level of detail while a custom hotend capable of extruding 50mm^3/s of ABS allows most items to be printed quickly and within a reasonable timeframe. ABS is the standard material I have chosen as it can withstand heat better than PLA allowing prints to survive in the sun as well as providing the option to use acetone to smooth prints to some extent. I expect most standard size props to fit within a $50-200 price range with large ones such as a buster sword being closer to $300 but it varies depending on the models complexity and size so any price estimate will require a 3d model of the item to be provided. The final weight of an item may be less than the weight of the material used as supports are often required to print an object and then removed afterward. Below I have included cost estimates for several of the test items I have printed as examples. Additional photos of the prints are available in the Print Gallery section of the website.
